Along the lakefront at the north end of the Expo grounds, the elegantly-designed, 60-foot by 190-foot Horticulture Building and the 1,000-foot-long Horticultural Gardens offered visitors one of the largest horticultural displays of its time. The Horticulture Building featured ever-changing flower and horticultural shows that were presented by both national distributors and local flower and garden clubs. The gardens were divided into a number of sections, one of which was a series of 10 gardens symbolic of Cleveland’s gardening history. These gardens ranged from simple garden plots with a combination of flowers and vegetables of the early settlers, to elaborate gardens of the 1890s, to World War I Victory Gardens, to modern gardens that featured the newest varieties of hybridized flowers, shrubs, and trees from around the world.
